The Tourism Month Media Launch took place on 11 September 2025 at the Mphebatho Cultural Museum in Moruleng, nestled within the scenic North West Province. Hosted as part of the annual Tourism Month celebrations, the event highlighted the province’s diverse offerings. It encouraged local travel, economic empowerment, and cultural pride under the theme of exploration, heritage, and community upliftment.
The event featured a heritage site tour and a memorable bush braai experience, hosted by Kgosi Nyalala Pilane and attended by the Honourable MEC Bitsa Lenkopane, Mr. Relebohile Mofokane, members of the media, tourism industry leaders, and the broader community. Guests were treated to cultural performances, a local SMME exhibition showcasing organic products, clothing, and crafts, and robust media engagement around the significance of domestic tourism.
Highlights included the MEC’s call to action, urging residents to explore the province’s townships, villages, and small towns, thereby supporting local businesses and fostering sustainable growth. Kgosi Nyalala Pilane emphasized the role of traditional leadership in leveraging the rich Bakgatla heritage to create jobs and drive community-led tourism development.
The event successfully celebrated the spirit of Tourism Month, reinforcing the province’s commitment to inclusive, culturally grounded tourism that benefits local communities.
